Oh. Hello there, again.
*Mic tap.* Well, its been a while since that last post hasn't it? Life got a bit busy as multiple events all spun up simultaneously. We had a lot of planning to get through for the Fairmount home renovation (we're super excited to be working with Hammer & Hand and Thesis Studio!), preparing our Campbell home to go onto the market, tying up details with our jobs as we transitioned to remote workers, and securing a temporary apartment in Portland to live in while the renovation progresses and completes by end of year in the Fairmount house. Whew, its enough to make anyone's head spin! To top it off, the Campbell home went on the market just a few days ago, and we're hoping to make a sale soon. *Fingers & legs crossed.*
We managed our way through all of that, however, and got ourselves up to Portland a couple weeks ago. We had gone back and forth on how to get up here, weighing our options between flying and driving. Each had plenty of cons... flying meant a lot of prep work to get things ready for the movers and also dealing with the cats flying for the first time (our eldest cat, Bigfoot, has given us some health scare in recent years so we considered flying with plenty of caution), and driving of course meant a very long drive with two emotional cats. In the end we chose to drive. It was a lovely drive with plenty of beautiful scenery along the way, but I wholeheartedly recommend not ever attempting it with two cats on board!
We've taken some time and have finally sort of settled into our temporary home for the next few months, and I am trying very hard to not think about how we will have to be packing and moving all over again in about 5 months time. In the meantime, we're enjoying the surrounding area near the temporary apartment and trying to get to know more of the hidden gems throughout the city.
